I’m a scientist by training, an artist in my heart and a Reiki Master in my soul.
I was born in Lisbon, Portugal but after finishing school in 1975, I moved to South Africa where I lived for 22 years prior to moving to NZ in 1999.
While in South Africa, I went to Cape Town University, where I became as scientist. I was awarded a Master of Science in Zoology (Distinction) in 1985 and a Doctorate - PhD in Medical Molecular Microbiology in 1992. In 2008, I got a Master of Entrepreneurship at the University Otago, NZ. I became a Reiki Master in 2002 and a Reconnective Healing Practitioner in 2004 in NZ.
I launched Azurlis™ natural botanical skin care – balancing science & soul in November 2010. Azurlis™ philosophy and my passion is to educate the public on the value of simpler and truly enriching lifestyle practices. I so this by highlighting how uncomplicated but effective skin care routines lead to health skin and support a healthy body and mind, enabling special moments to look after ourselves and our families, without harming others, other species as well as the environment. This is not “hocus pocus” and I’m always delighted to discuss or share the scientific evidence that has been accumulating on these approaches for the last decade.
Crucial to our credibility, is that we don’t make unrealistic claims, quite the contrary. Also, sustainability, circular beauty, transparency and community support are core to my world. Our products are PETA Approved as vegan compliant confirming our adherence to “1000%” cruelty-free beauty.
One of our mottos at “Azurlis™ - “we don’t sell you skincare… we care for your skin”, but in reality we believe in care for wellbeing.
